Airport Lounges – How To Choose The Right Furniture

Airports seem to be a crowd splitter. To some the thought of going to an Airport can evoke feelings of childlike excitement, the gateway to a thrilling new destination. Others however are filled with dread as they pull up at the drop off point. Of course, our feelings towards airports very much depend on our own personal experiences. So what steps can you take when creating an airport lounge area that contributes towards a pleasant airport experience – one that will set the tone for a utterly enjoyable trip? Well, whatever their reasons for travel, there are a number of factors that are valuable to every passenger.

In your Airport lounge and dining areas you want to create a haven within the hustle and bustle of the airport, in the form of a relaxed atmosphere, comfortable temperature with healthy air movement, appropriate lighting levels, along with enticing interior design.

In this post, we are going to focus on the importance of selecting the right furniture for your lounge, and factors to consider when making that choice.

Quality and Longevity

It’s safe to say your selection of furniture is going to receive some extensive use, so you need to be confident it will adequately stand the test of time. We at JB fully recognise the importance of quality and longevity of furniture, so we offer contract furniture designed with heavy use in mind, along with a standard guarantee of at least 2 years on the chairs we recommend for use within airports. For example, the faux leather we have selected has been extensively tested and can withstand approximately 100,000 Martindale rubs. The seating ranges we recommend are kiln dried, screwed and glued together, and are upholstered in CRIB 5 foam and fabric. Our dining chairs within these ranges feature a solid wood frame made out of beech sourced from within the EU.

However, it goes without saying that meeting the needs of your furniture’s functionality should not mean any compromise when it comes to style, ensuring your lounge ticks all the boxes in the design department.

Design

To be drawn into a bubble-like haven within the chaos than can be airports, is something that passengers will be thanking you for. Along with the other factors we have discussed above, the furniture within a space plays a large part in setting the aesthetic, and in turn the ambiance within your space. Inject a feeling of vibrancy, luxury and comfort into the lounge, through use of colour, texture of fabrics and materials or iconic shapes.

Many of our tables and chairs come in a choice of finishes, with the ability to customise the cushion or fabric elements of our seating. As you will see from browsing our online shop there is a fabric option available for every preference – namely, leather, leathers faux cousin, contemporary prints, softer fabrics with a velvet feel along with the opportunity to provide your own upholstery fabric.

Whatever style you are channelling within your lounge area, our customisable collection is sure to deliver beyond your expectations.

Variety

The vast number of people that move through an airport, and subsequent users of your lounge area, call for a variety of seating styles to cater for their varying needs. From the couple stopping in for a pre-flight tipple, who may prefer to perch at a poseur table and bar stool combo, to the family with young ones looking for a more relaxed seating style in the form of modular bench seating and armchairs. For passengers travelling for business, your lounge presents their last opportunity to send that vital email before disconnecting in preparation for take off, so creating a number of quieter corners with upright seating can provide the perfect location to take care of these necessities. A group of friends are likely to prefer a more intimate arrangement, for whom booth and banquette seating could provide the perfect setting for excitedly planning the agenda for their trip abroad. It’s fair to say, however, that the majority of your lounge space will be set up for those dining within the space.
